Breaking Bad Star Coming to Harper
R. J. Mitte, who played Walter White Jr. on the hit series "Breaking Bad", is coming to Harper College next week. He will appear in conjunction with Disability Awareness Month.
Just one week after it completed its five-season run on AMC, a star of the Emmy Award-winning drama “Breaking Bad” is coming to Harper College.
R.J. Mitte, who played Walter White Jr., the son of teacher-turned-drug kingpin Walter White on the series, will appear at Harper to talk about overcoming adversity in his own life and how to turn disadvantages into advantages, according to a release from the college. The actor will appear to speak and answer audience questions at 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 8 in the Performing Arts Center on the College’s main campus, 1200 W. Algonquin Road in Palatine.
Like his “Breaking Bad” character, Mitte has mild cerebral palsy. Rather than letting his diagnosis stand in his way, Mitte auditioned for and landed a major role on one of television’s most celebrated series. He has also become an advocate for people with disabilities: he is a spokesperson for “I AM PWD,” an organization that advocates for actors with disabilities, and is a Celebrity Youth Ambassador for United Cerebral Palsy.
