Viewfinder: Palatine Recovers From 2011 Blizzard

Palatine Patch wanted to see how the village was recovering from the 2011 blizzard.

Viewfinder is a new Thursday feature on Palatine Patch. Each week we will produce a photo gallery of people, places and events in Palatine.

This week Palatine Patch wanted to see how the village was recovering from the 2011 blizzard. Wednesday afternoon we traveled to a deserted downtown that largely was cleared of snow. Many of the sidewalks were clear, too. At one point a convoy of small, snow removing vehicles passed by, finishing up what clearly had been a busy day.

We found the remnants of the storm throughout Palatine. A truck still stuck on Quentin Road. A pickup truck buried downtown. Huge mountains of snow piled high. Throughout Palatine residents such as Eric and Brian Theis worked against the back drop of a setting sun to clear still covered sidewalks and driveway.
