The Importance of Mom's Night Out

Ideas for Mom to have a night out with her friends

Since Mother's Day is coming up (hint, hint families) this and next week's Mom's Talk posts are going to be all about making Mom happy.

Last week I had a fabulous Moms Night Out with some fellow Chicago Mom Bloggers. We had 14 Moms out for a night on the town at Nacional 27 restaurant. We enjoyed their Mixology Class where the bartender taught us how to make Caipirinhas and Mojitos. Just remembering how much fun I had emphasized the importance of Mom's Night Out.

I firmly believe that Moms need a break every now and then to relax, cut loose, and connect with fellow Moms. (Dads need a night out too, but they can write their own article.) It keeps us sane and more importantly it keeps us happy. My kids surely know that if "Mommy 'aint happy, 'aint no one happy." A night where I don't have to wash dishes, cut someone's meat, or clean up spills is heaven. A night where I can laugh at my situation, find sympathy, or get advice from fellow Moms is almost better than chocolate. I love my family greatly but the sheer fact that I can go out and talk ABOUT my family with friends makes me a healthier, happier Mom.

One of my favorite "Mom's Night Out" traditions is Holiday Tea with friends. I look forward to it every year.

So Moms, how often do you get a Mom's Night Out and what do you like to do? Are there any great places in Palatine for a Mom's Night Out? Do you like to meet up with friends or do you crave a night on your own to do anything you like?
