A hazardous outlook has been issued for McHenry, Lake, DeKalb, Kane, Cook, DuPage, Kendall, Grundy and Will counties for Monday with thunderstorms expected to develop this afternoon in areas west of the Mississippi River.

The storms will then move into north central Illinois later this afternoon before heading east across the remainder of the outlook area this evening.
The storms could produce hail up to two inches in diameter, wind gusts in excess of 70 mph, torrential rainfall and localized flooding, frequent cloud-to-ground lightning and the possibility of a tornado.
Thunderstorms are expected to diminish Monday night and gradually move east of the area after midnight.
The National Weather Service is encouraging residents to monitor forecasts and be prepared for possible warnings today.
