Palatine has been ranked among the 10 Best Cities in Illinois by a national brokerage firm.
In an article posted on Oct. 22, the Movoto Real Estate blog ranks Palatine at No. 9.
From its website:
"Here at Movoto Real Estate, we’ve been ranking cities all over the country—and many times, even discussing places as far away as London or the Mushroom Kingdom. So we thought, why not bring it a little closer to home and really focus in the best cities in one state in particular?"
The list was compiled based on amenities like shopping and dining, cost of living, crime, education, employment and home value. Cities were ranked with a score from 1 to 50 in each of the criteria.
Movoto points to Palatine's low crime rate, high house values and high household income as some of the reasons it was picked as one of the best cities in the state. The blog refers to Palatine as a "nice, wholesome hometown kind of place."
Other local towns to make the list include Arlington Heights, which was ranked at No. 7; and Mount Prospect, which was ranked at No. 10. Taking the top spot was Northbrook, followed by Highland Park and Glenview.
