Palatine Downtown Readies For Street Fest

Preparations for Street Fest are progressing smoothly. The festival kicks off Friday, Aug. 26 at 5 p.m.

Palatine's downtown was being transformed Thursday in preparation for the three-day Street Fest.

"With the wonderful weather all of the setup has been on time and on schedule," said Palatine Assistant Village Manager Sam Trakas. "We're looking forward to a wonderful weekend and everything should be up and ready to go by 5 p.m. (Friday)."

Among the highlights will be a Friday performance by Sixteen Candles, who will take the stage at 10 p.m. On Saturday Wedding Banned performs on the main stage at 10 p.m.

On Saturday and Sunday there will be kid games and entertainment starting at 11 a.m.

Local food vendors include Artistic Cuisine, Brothers Ribs, Heybeck’s Meat Market, Mexico Uno, Photos Hot Dogs, Pizza Bella, Slice of Chicago, Siri Thai II, Palatine Lions Club, Ben and Jerry's and Culver's of Palatine.

On Saturday Aug. 27, the Cyclefest ride begins at 9 a.m. Cyclefest includes a casual bike ride through streets and bike paths in the village. Sunday activities will start out with the Palatine Park District 8th annual Feet Fest, a 3K run/walk for the entire family at 8:30 a.m. The Feet Fest Breakfast will be presented by the American Legion Post 690 starting at 9 a.m.
