Palatine Churches Hold Holy Week, Easter Services

There will be several services held in churches in Palatine for Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

Palatine churches will hold Holy Week services in the days leading up to Easter Sunday.

Here is a look at some of the services at area churches: 

Christ the King Lutheran Church, 100 West Michigan Avenue in Palatine.

  • Maundy Thursday: Service at 7 p.m.
  • Good Friday: Tenebrae Service at 7 p.m.
  • Easter: Dawn vigil at 6:30 a.m. and festival service at 10:30 a.m. All are welcome to an Easter breakfast in between services. Children Easter activities are scheduled for 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. 

First United Methodist Church, 123 N. Plum Grove Road in Palatine

  • Maundy Thursday: Service at 7 p.m.
  • Good Friday: Cross walk at 9:30 a.m. Come meet in the church parking lot for the public carrying of the cross through Palatine. Good Friday worship will be held at 7 p.m. 
  • Easter Sunday: Sunrise service will be held at 7 a.m. There will be hand bells at the 9 and 10:30 a.m. services. 

St. Philip's Episcopal Church, 342 E. Wood St. in Palatine

  • Maundy Thursday: Service at 7 p.m.
  • Good Friday: Service at 12 p.m. 
  • Easter Sunday: Service will be held at 10 a.m. 

St. Theresa Parish, 455 N. Benton St. in Palatine

  • Holy Thursday: 8 a.m., morning prayer in the chapel; 7 p.m., liturgy of the Lord's Supper with Eucharistic adoration following until midnight. 
  • Good Friday: 8 a.m., morning prayer in the chapel; 3 p.m., liturgy of the Lord's Passion and death; 7 p.m., stations of the cross. 
  • Holy Saturday: 8 a.m., morning prayer in the chapel; 11 a.m., blessing of the Easter foods; 8 pm., Easter vigil liturgy.
  • Easter Sunday: Services will be held at 6, 8 and 10 a.m. and noon. 

All Saints Lutheran Church,

 

  •  Maundy Thursday: 6:15 p.m., holy communion, foot washing and community meal. 
  • Good Friday: 10 a.m., family service; 7 p.m., cantata "Shadows of Sacrifice: A Tenebrae Service."
  • Saturday: 7 p.m., Easter vigil, an ancient worship tradition followed by festive fellowship.
  • Easter Sunday: Services at 8:30 and 10 a.m.
