Palatine's 'Paint the Town Green' Celebration Fills Up St. Patty's Day Weekend!

The 3rd annual parade will be held on Saturday, March 16 and the celebration will continue at Durty Nellie's and Emmet's Ale House on Sunday, March 17.

Palatine’s “Paint the Town GreenSt. Patrick’s Day celebration will be held on Saturday, March 16 and will continue through Sunday, March 17th with food, drink and entertainment at Durty Nellies West Irish Pub and Emmett’s Ale House.

Durty Nellies and Emmett’s couldn’t keep their St. Patrick’s Day celebration to one day,” said event coordinator, Liz Noe of ElizEvents. “Irish food and drink will be available at both locations all day Sunday and Durty Nellies will have music all day to celebrate their 10th anniversary.”

Durty Nellie’s, located at 180 North Smith Street, and Emmett’s, which is located at 110 North Brockway Street, will be serving Irish food all day Sunday. Nellies will have corn beef and cabbage, corn beef sandwiches, Reuben sandwiches and other traditional dishes.  Irish specials will also be featured at Emmett’s.  Their menu includes whiskey glazed corned beef and cabbage, horseradish crusted salmon, shepherd's pie, roasted rack of lamb and corned beef sandwiches.

Don't forget to enter the St. PATCHrick's Photo Contest-three randomly drawn winners can claim one of three great prizes!

Durty Nellies has live music beginning at Noon and running until 2:00 PM with The Screw City Saints.  The Screw City Saints, according to their website, are a gang of hard lovin', hard drinkin' hooligans from the factory towns of the Midwest mixing their Irish roots with a shot of Punk.  From 2:30 PM until 4:30 PM, The Great Whiskey Project will entertain the audience with their blend of rock and Irish music.

At 4:30 PM and running until 5:15 PM the venue changes from music to dance when the Trinity Irish Dancers take the stage.  At 5:15 PM to 7:15 PM, Chatsworth and Dupree featuring Wavy Dave and Chris Gangi of Cornmeal will entertain the audience.  The band will be performing many of Cornmeal’s hits. Cornmeal's music includes their debut album In the Kitchen in 2001, 2003's Tales from Magic Stone Mountain and 2006's Feet First.

Fonn Mor will provide the final performance for the evening from 7:30 PM until 9:00 PM.  The band blends traditional Celtic folk with a variety of other cross-cultural and rock influences.  Their signature CD won two WYCE (West Michigan) Jammie Awards in 2002; Best World Music CD and Best CD of the Year.
