Immanuel Lutheran: Music to Move Our Next Generation

Immanuel Lutheran Church in Palatine begins a series of monthly benefit concerts on Sunday, Oct. 2, at 4 p.m. The inaugural Music to Move Our Next Generation concert includes more than 15 vocal and instrumental performances from members and friends of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

“We are blessed to have so many talented vocalists and musicians right here in our church family,” said Ruth Ann Poppen, Immanuel’s director of music.  “This first concert provides religious, secular, classical, blues, jazz and rock…music for all genres.”

A reception will follow the concert, providing guest with an opportunity to meet the performers. The Music to Mover Our Next Generation concerts are free and open to the public. All proceeds from a free-will offering will be used for the restoration and renewal of the church’s impressive 2,000-pipe Wicks organ.

A second concert, featuring The Bruce Blanck trio and professional vibraphonist Bob Wessberg, a member of Immanuel, is planned for Sunday, Nov. 6 at 4 p.m. The concert will open with student musicians from Immanuel Lutheran School.

Immanuel Lutheran Church & School is located at 200 North Plum Grove Rd. (at Wood Street) in downtown Palatine, just two blocks east of the Palatine Metra Train Station.
