Lovely Lexi Requests a Window Seat

Sweet, easygoing domestic short hair likes naps and toy mice.

Hello, World! I’m Lexi, a quiet, cuddly 6-year-old domestic short hair who loves to play with fuzzy mice and take naps on the window sill.

I’m kind of the nosy neighbor at my foster home at Young At Heart Pet Rescue Cat Center in Prairie View/Buffalo Grove. I’m always looking out the window, not wanting to miss a minute of the action outside.

I’m very sweet and quite laid back. I’m good with other cats, and I have no problem with cat-savvy dogs. I’m also a star with my litter box.

Like all Young At Heart Pet Rescue animals, I received top-notch veterinary care when I first arrived. Boy, were they surprised what they found! I have what they call “Heartworm Associated Respiratory Disease,” which is a scary way of saying that I cough sometimes because I got bit by a parasite-carrying mosquito. (Heartworms don’t have the same effect on cats that they do on dogs. In us felines, immature heartworms pass into the blood vessels to the lungs. When they die there, they cause the inflammation that makes me cough.) My condition is not contagious to people or other animals, so I hope there’s someone special out there who has a place for me, even though I sometimes sound like I have a cold.

Everyone who meets me agrees that I’m a nice girl who really deserves a home of her own. If that home has a sunny window that I can call my own, all the better.

To take me home, you’ll have to fill out an adoption application. In the meantime, I’d really love to meet you, so stop by Best Friends Pet Care anytime during regular business hours to say hello.

I’ll be the pretty kitty in the window.
