Leave the Kids at Home for Grown-up Egg Hunt

New park district programs sometimes take a while to take off, but there’s already a lot of buzz about Palatine Park District’s Flashlight Egg Scramble.

“People in the area are excited,” said Lisa Schroeder, Special Interest Coordinator for the park district. “We are hearing a really positive response, people are excited and happy about it and they don’t even know about the prizes.”

The Flashlight Egg Scramble is being held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 22 at Falcon Park. Tickets are $10 per person and includes a photo with the Easter Bunny, raffle entries and all the eggs you can collect. Some eggs will have candy while others will have tickets for prizes donated by local businesses.

This is an adult-only event, for anyone 21 and over. Identification is required and there will be a cash bar.

A family Easter Egg Hunt will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 23 at the park. It is sponsored by the Palatine Jaycees.

Palatine Park District also has a Hound Egg Hunt at noon on Saturday. Schroeder said the park district was one of the first to host a doggie egg hunt and it has taken off. There were 120 dogs registered for last year’s event.

“Some people have trained their dogs to open the eggs,” she said. “Most dogs just want the treat (in the eggs), the people are more excited by the hunt.”

The Egg Scramble may ended up being just as popular. Palatine Park District wants to “make sure we have something for everyone,” Schroeder said.
