Countryside Association for People with Disabilities Celebrating Completed Renovations, Expansion

The re-opening event will be held on August 10 from noon to 2 p.m. at Countryside Center, 21154 W. Shirley Road, Palatine. The celebration will allow attendees to take a tour of the facility, meet the clients served and enjoy refreshments.

Countryside Association recently completed a 9,000 square-foot expansion and renovation project to allow the human services agency to expand its current client base of 675 individuals with disabilities by an additional 50 people.

The grand re-opening event will be held on August 10 from noon to 2 p.m. at Countryside Center, 21154 W. Shirley Road, Palatine.  The celebration will allow attendees to take a tour of the facility, meet the clients served and enjoy refreshments. 

The project was funded by generous donations from Ashland Millwork, Estate of Ray and Barbara Friend, The Coleman Foundation, Dominick's Charitable Foundation, Foglia Family Foundation, Friends of Countryside Center, Illinois DCEO Capital Fund, Col. Stanley R. McNeil Foundation & The Richard A. Perritt Charitable Foundation.

Countryside’s staff and volunteer efforts help its clients to find jobs and enjoy social and recreational activities as well as support the clients’ families in their homes by providing intermittent in-home care, relief to the primary caregivers and offering case management services.

Countryside’s mission is to advocate on behalf of persons with disabilities and their families and to support them in their efforts to live and work successfully in their chosen community. Through a continuum of services and supports, at facilities in Palatine and Waukegan, IL, Countryside Association serves over 675 individuals with disabilities and their families who reside in northern Cook and Lake Counties. Founded in 1954, the agency contends that people with disabilities have a wealth of potential as employees, community members, volunteers and friends.  Countryside is committed to providing choices and opportunities for individuals to reach their goals of independence, employment and full participation in their community.
