Loving these cooler temperatures? The weekend of July 27-28 made the record books for being one of the coolest July weekends.

Did you know that this past weekend made the record books for being one of the coldest July weekends in Chicago?

The average high temperature—calculated using both the day and night temperatures for Saturday and Sunday—was 60.8 degrees for July 27-28, putting the weekend at No. 4 for the coldest July weekend on record in Chicago, according to the National Weather Service in Chicago.

If you've enjoyed those cooler temperatures, you're in for a treat this week. The highest forecast temperature this week is just 80 degrees.

The week will start off with mostly sunny skies and high near 75 on Monday. The forecast low Monday night is just 60 degrees.

Though there's a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Tuesday, expect partly sunny skies and a high near 76, according to the National Weather Service in Chicago.

A slight warm-up—highs around 80 degrees—is expected Wednesday and Thursday. Wednesday will also see a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. 

Expect more mild temperatures Friday and through the weekend, with a forecast high of 78 degrees Friday and Saturday, and 75 on Sunday.
