Big Snow Misses Area, Wind and Temperatures Are Concern

Though major snowfall did not affect the north and northwest suburbs, temperatures will only reach the upper 20's today. The National Weather Service says ice and windy conditions are concerns.

We were fortunate here in Chicago's north suburbs to have received only a nominal amount of snowfall during last night's Winter Storm Warning, but frigid temperatures and strong winds could cause ice and other dangerous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service, flurries are expected this morning wth cloudy skies that will clear for the sun this afternoon.

Wind gusts will reach as strong as 40 mph and highs in the upper 20's are expected, the National Weather Service reports.

Commonwealth Edison is reporting that approximately 12,000 customers in Illinois do not have power, and says crews are working to restore it by Saturday.
