We were fortunate here in Chicago's north suburbs to have received only a nominal amount of snowfall during last night's Winter Storm Warning, but frigid temperatures and strong winds could cause ice and other dangerous travel conditions.
According to the National Weather Service, flurries are expected this morning wth cloudy skies that will clear for the sun this afternoon.
Wind gusts will reach as strong as 40 mph and highs in the upper 20's are expected, the National Weather Service reports.
Commonwealth Edison is reporting that approximately 12,000 customers in Illinois do not have power, and says crews are working to restore it by Saturday.
