Anti-Abortion Groups Plan “Face the Truth Tour” in Palatine, Arlington Heights

On Thursday, July 18, the Pro-Life Action League plans to be stationed at intersections in Arlington Heights and Palatine expressing their opposition to abortion.

If you’re traveling through Palatine and Arlington Heights Thursday, you may encounter members of the Pro-Life Action League at two busy intersections communicating their anti-abortion messages.

Pro-life supporters are participating in what they call the “Face the Truth Tour” and will be displaying poster-sized images of aborted babies, while praying and protesting against abortion.

The demonstrations have been held for the last 14 years by the organization.

The Pro-Life Action League has coordinated Face the Truth Tours for more than a dozen years, and according to Eric Scheidler, Executive Director, will continue organizing the public education tours.

“The Face the Truth Tours work. Every year people stop to thank us for sharing the reality of abortion because it caused them to reconsider a planned abortion or begin the healing process from a past abortion,” said Scheidler.

He added, “Last year a woman came up to us and said that she had an abortion 12 years ago, and that at the time, she felt she had no choice. She told us, ‘I keep looking at your picture, and I can’t believe I did that to my baby…nobody told me it was a baby.’”

Commander Mike Seebacher with the Palatine Police Department said since the group has come to Palatine, there have been no problems.

“They don’t impede traffic, and though some may certainly object to the posters they display, that right to free speech has been backed by the U.S. Supreme Court,” Seebacher said.

Seebacher said he will be there during the entire event, and three on-duty police officers who patrol in the immediate areas surrounding will be available if needed to keep the peace.
