The Palatine Lions Club awarded
three $750 scholarships at a recent meeting to students from local high
schools. The club is proud to recognize
the qualities and efforts of these students throughout their high school
careers. They are as follows:
Shannon Merkys of Palatine High School is attending the University of Illinois. While at Palatine she was active in Reality Theatre, Senior board, commencement planning committee, President’s club, Social Studies Club and the National Honor Society.
Alex Taikwel of William Fremd High School is attending Loyola University majoring in biology. He hopes to eventually work in the oncology field. At Fremd Alex was actively involved in the Math Team and the Service over Self Club. Outside school, Ales volunteered extensive time at St. Alexius Hospital.
Alexis Keuter from Rolling Meadows High School is attending North Central College in Naperville, Illinois as music major. She was very active in the music department playing the electric bass, drums, and orchestra base in multiple groups in the department. She is hoping to use this music major in a music therapy career.
All of these students are excellent academic students and are leaders in their school and community. The Palatine Lions Club is proud to support these fine students as they pursue their goals through higher education.
