Music On Stage Announces Entertainment Line-up

July 19, 2013 – What better way to beat the summer heat than to attend Christmas In July, a benefit for Music On Stage, a leading community theater organization in Chicago’s Northwest suburbs.  The event, which includes a buffet dinner and dancing, will be will be held Friday, July 26, from 6 - 11 p.m. at the Schwaben Center at 301 N. Weiland Road in Buffalo Grove, Ill., and costs $35 a person.  Tickets and more information can be found at musiconstage.org or by calling 847-526-6077.  The event will also have a cash bar, 50/50 raffle and a silent auction, including an impressive selection of hard-to-find collectibles and unique holiday decorations.

 

Performers who will present a cabaret at the benefit were announced today.  The group, all accomplished and well-known performers in the area, includes Anne Arza, David Geinosky, Heide Gotsch, Rick Johnson, Jenny Kuffel, Alma Lumabas, Frank Roberts and Kathy Zimmerman.  Selections will include such holiday favorites as “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas,” “Baby It's Cold Outside,” “Santa Baby,” “White Christmas,” “Sisters” ( from White Christmas), “The Most Wonderful Time of The Year,” and “Happy Holidays.”

Music On Stage (MOS), winner of the Illinois Theatre Association’s Excellence in Theatre award, will be the first community theater organization in Chicago to present Irving Berlin’s classic “White Christmas” later this year.  Performances will be Nov. 16 through Dec. 1 at Palatine’s Cutting Hall Performance Center, 150 East Wood Street.  Performances will be Friday and Saturday evenings, as well as Sunday matinees.  More information and tickets can be found at by visiting musiconstage.org.

“We are extremely proud and fortunate to have been selected for this show,” said Estelle Nicholson, vice chair for business at Music On Stage, “and with the benefit we are responding to the enthusiasm of our subscriber base, who can’t wait to share a bit of the holiday feeling as they anxiously await our opening night.”

The evening will also include a roster of rare and popular holiday collectibles, including:

·       A 14-piece Dept. 56 Mini Christmas village with accessories.  (Single houses from this particular collection are going for over $40 apiece online.) 

·       A Gibson Christmas Charm Holiday China set, featuring service for 12, each has a five-piece place settings and serving dishes.    (This is a discontinued pattern, which has been offered online for about $25 a place setting.)

·       A Danbury Mint Golden Retriever Christmas Tree figurine, a collectible that last sold on ebay in August 2012 for over $400, is among the items offered.

·       A Danbury Mint Golden Retriever Holiday Rail - Train set , another collectible that last sold on Ebay in November 2012 for just under $200, is also on the auction roster.

 

These are just a few of the more valuable items that have been gathered for the auction.  There are also new candles, ornaments, decorations, animated toys, stuffed animals and more for your holidays as well as an assortment of goods, memorabilia and more.
