Food For Fines at the Palatine Library in May

Food for Fines at the Palatine Library in May

The Palatine Public Library District is offering a Food for Fines campaign for the third year, beginning Thursday, May 1 through Saturday, May 31. This program will help patrons clear up their accounts and give back to the community at the same time. Patrons that bring in at least one can or jar of food AND pay half of their fines, will have the remaining balance of the fine waived.

Library services and programs are available to patrons who owe less than $5.00 in fines and fees. This is a great way to help ensure patrons can continue to participate in all of the services and programs the Library has to offer, including the Summer Reading Program which begins on Sunday, June 1.

Food for Fines does not include waiving fees for lost or damaged items or charges assessed for the collection agency. All food items will be donated to the Palatine Township Food Pantry. Items especially needed include juice, beef soup, canned chicken, pasta, tomato sauce, and spaghetti sauce. (Please no pet food, unlabeled, perishable, or expired, or damaged items.)

The Palatine Public Library District (www.palatinelibrary.org) is your destination for knowledge, entertainment, and community. The District serves approximately 90,000 residents predominantly within the communities of Palatine and Hoffman Estates.
