Food for Fines at the Palatine Library

Food for Fines begins Monday, April 30 at the Palatine Library. Clear up your fines and help the community at the same time!

The Palatine Public Library District is offering a Food for Fines campaign beginning Monday, April 30 through Friday, June 1, 2012. This program will help patrons clear up their accounts and give back to the community at the same time. Patrons that bring in at least one can or jar of food AND pay half of their fines, will have the remaining balance of the fine waived.

Library services and programs are available to patrons who owe less than $5.00 in fines and fees. This is a great way to help ensure patrons can continue to participate in all of the services and programs the Library has to offer like the upcoming Summer Reading Program which begins on Friday, June 1.

Food for Fines does not include waiving fees for lost or damaged items or charges assessed for the collection agency. All food items will be donated to the Palatine Township Food Pantry. Items especially needed include peanut butter, jelly, and tomato products. (Please no pet food, unlabeled, perishable, or expired/damaged items.)
