Palatine, Illinois—The Wall Street Journal reports that 70 percent of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck. According to USA Today, 55 percent of Americans admit to always or sometimes worrying about money. Immanuel Lutheran Church, in Palatine, is providing a financial course, entitled Financial Peace University, to help couples, singles and families get out of debt and stay out.
The course is a video-based curriculum taught by financial expert Dave Ramsey and is facilitated by Rev. Warren Schilf, associate pastor at Immanuel Lutheran Church. The Tuesday-evening course begins January 29th, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., and is held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 200 North Plum Grove Road. The church is located at Wood Street and Plum Grove Road, just two blocks east of the Metra train station in downtown Palatine.
Financial Peace University uses small-group discussions to encourage accountability and discipleship. The curriculum incorporates a unique combination of humor, informative financial advice and biblical messages. Financial Peace University focuses on eliminating debt, building wealth and changing marriages. More than one million families have attended Financial Peace University with amazing results. On average, participants pay off $5,300 in debt and save $2,700 in just 90 days.
“This course will help you understand the forces behind your financial distress, create a budget that really works, set achievable goals and make things right for you and your family—financially, emotionally and spiritually--for good,” said Ramsey.
Registration is $89 (a $199 value) and includes the Financial Peace University Workbook; audio CD library; budgeting forms; two bonus CDs; debit card holders; Dave Ramsey's best-selling book; a cash management envelope system; and tip cards.
