Community Emergency Response Team Study
Palatine Police Department, 595 N Hicks Rd, Palatine, IL | Get Directions »
FREE
Our community has been lucky. We have not had mass shootings, hurricanes, huge fires, tornados, or even this year, blizzards. That does not mean that something will not happen that challenges the everyday resources of our community. That is when it is up to the average citizen to be prepared to care for themselves, their family, and their neighbors. That is what determines survival rates.
Being prepared is what the Community Emergency Response Teams are all about: training individuals to step up to help when the need arises.
Different towns prepare for disasters in different ways. Some actively recruit, train, and organize their citizens while others play a less active role. Join the LWV in a study examining the CERT program and how it is implemented in the surrounding towns. Find out how your town prepares for a disaster and decide for yourself how involved in the planning you, and your village, should be.
