From Trustee Candidate Kevin O'Connell....
Our slate of the Responsible Republicans would like to thank all those who have supported our campaign for change in Palatine Township. The response in the community has been very positive. Trustee candidates Jason Hillenbrand, Julie Ann Johnson and Kevin O'Connell want to make sure that the township continues to provide needed services without being a financial burden to the taxpayers of the Township.
To accomplish this task, our slate first has pledged not to raise property taxes at all, roll back the pay increase the current township trustees running against us have given themselves, and start working on plans to consolidate operations within the government. This can be done but we need the support of the voters in this township on Tuesday. We hope you will take the time to learn about our slate at ResponsibleTownship.com.
Thank You.
Kevin O'Connell

Please provide the link to the minutes about the increase the current Trustees voted themselves. That's ridiculous and need to be highlighted!

Please tell me why this outdated form of government still exists?
Everything that I've read leads me to believe that there is nothing that the township does, that couldn't be handed over to either the village or the county governments.

am supporting Kevin O'Connell, Julie Johnson, and Jason Hillenbrand today for Trustees and here is why:
Last September, the current Trustees voted in a pay increase for themselves, if re-elected. This is shocking to me and truly not something I can wrap my head around. The Trustees do no more work than unpaid Board of Ed members (and one could argue, quite a bit less) so to vote themselves an INCREASE if re-elected is beyond me.

"There is a potential $900 increase in Trustee salaries, in the event that the increased per diem meeting allowance were maximized."

Vicki Wilson, you must be a political hack. We read the minutes and it looks like the board decreased the salaries of officials who make over $24K in their positions!!!! Trustees do not have to claim their stipends and several of them stated as such. FOIA the expense records and see who claims money to make $900 or volunteer for something, then you have a reason to talk.

Yes, the Trustees decreased the salaries of the Supervisor and Clerk but INCREASED the salary potential for their OWN positions.
