If case you have been living under a rock, you may have seen lately that the CrossFit Games just concluded this passed weekend. It was such a spectacle to witness these amazing athletes compete against each other vying for the title Fittest on Earth. What did this mean for them during competition? This meant a Triathlon in Camp Pendleton, a Clean ladder and doing Elizabeth, Isabel and Fran back to back. Among many other workouts, this tested all 10 General Physical Skills and and any other capacities you can think of.
What this post is about today is not the competitors times or ranking. No, it is about the motivation that these athletes have and the motivation that they give each and every one of us. These men and women devote there time and life to improving and getting better and better. Now while we may not all be able to devote all that time to competition, it is apparent that we can do more, or at least understand that if we really want some, we have to work.
Some of these men and women have full families and jobs that they have to tend to. They have gyms to run and lives to live beyond CrossFit. However, they still are able to get in the workouts they need to be competitive and just kick ass at what they do. This should be motivation for all of us. A lot of these athletes have less energy, less time and less free time yet they have more dedication, more passion, and more fitness than many of us. We are not now and never have been constrained by time but by desire. If you want better fitness you need to remove all possible excuses and put in work to make it happen. Life does not just happen. It is a construct of doing or not doing. Both of those things are choices. What do you choose to do today?
