They have no idea who is coming for dinner, or even how many, but members of All Saints Lutheran Church in Palatine are making final preparations to host a free community Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday, November 22 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. 

Ovens have been found to roast 27 turkeys and cook 14 very large green bean casseroles as well as 12 trays of stuffing and ham, sweet potatoes, mixed vegetables mashed potatoes and gravy. A bakery in Hoffman Estates has donated pie for dessert along with an assortment of pastries. Based upon their experience in the past two years they expect to serve more than 200 people.

“Thanksgiving can be a lonely time for many people,” said Seth Moland-Kovash, co-pastor of the church. “We know that many in our community are alone or separated from their families; we want them to know there is a place for them at our table. For others, their financial situation makes it difficult if not impossible to put a traditional holiday dinner on the table for their family. All are welcome. No one will be turned away.”
