Winter Storm Watch for Tonight
Could dump 6 inches or more of snow between Thursday and Friday.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for northern Illinios, including Lake, Cook and McHenry counties, which is in effect until 9 a.m., Friday morning.
The rain is expected to change to snow this evening. Snow may fall at rates of as much as one inch per hour, according to the National Weather Service.
The wet snow could result in slippery and potentially hazardous roads. Strong winds can result in whipped, heavy snow and reduced visibilities.
The National Weather Service warns that the heavy snow could be a health concern when shoveling.
