Chowdown Showdown: Where Is The Best Place To Get A Burger In Palatine?

Tell us where you favorite place is to get a burger in the comments' section below.

UPDATE: The nominations are in: It's time to Vote in the Chowdown Showdown poll!

We are happy to introduce a new column on Palatine Patch — a column centered around food, local restaurants and you.

The weekly Chowdown Showdown is meant to be a way for readers to pick and vote on their favorite places to get certain entrees in Palatine. Each week, we will ask you to tell us your favorite place to get a cup of coffee or bowl of chili or breakfast.

This week we want to know, where is the best place in Palatine to get a burger.

You can let us know your favorite spot by commenting below. You will be able to submit your vote through 5 p.m. Tuesday.

From there, we will take the top three finalists and post in an article first thing Wednesday morning. Then it will be time to vote again — this time for the Chowdown Showdown champion.

Voting will continue through 5 p.m. Friday, and we will announce the winner first thing Saturday morning.

If you are really pulling for a certain restaurant, you can share this column on your personal Facebook page and Twitter feed and ask your followers to vote.

This is all about participation so we hope you will chime in and check back.

So, without further ado, lets get the voting started. Patch readers, tell us by commenting below, where is the BEST place to get a burger in Palatine?

About this column: Each week, Palatine Patch will be on the hunt for the best place to get certain entrees in the area. The Chowdown Showdown will allow readers to vote on where their favorite place is to get a burger or a latte or a steak in Palatine. I would agree that Brandts always had the best burger. Are they still open?

I'm a fan of the Immigrant Burger at Durty Nellie's. Brandt's is darn good, too.

Brandt's is certainly a great burger but it costs $$$.

For a bit less money I vote for Chiggy's!.

I would say for the price and size Lamps takes Brandt's hands down! Brandt's used to be really good, but I don't know if they switched their burgers, but it just isn't as good as I remember! So my vote goes to Lamps!!!

Long long time ago it used to be Brandts, but they have changed their burgers; and since Lamps built their restaurant and expanded their menu, they win hands down!

Bauers Brauhaus has the BEST burger around!! Everything about it makes it number 1...the bun, the fresh meat, the Merks cheese, the grilled onions, the homemade pickles and homemade bacon jam. If you haven't had one yet, go and get one....it'll blow your mind!

Whoops... looks like Bauers brauhaus forgot to pay their internet domain bill. It can be "voted" best here all you want... if people can't see the menu it's not very helpful...

I thought this was to vote for our favorite place to get a burger, not to slam anybody's place of business. I'm sure ALL businesses have problems with their Internet service. It doesn't mean that its a bad place to go.

@ Tom and Victoria... Hmmm... I suspect you may be affiliated with one of the above restaurants, other than Bauers?? And since when can one vote for best burger by just reading its description on the menu?? As a palatine resident I have tried many burgers in the area. I have to agree Bauer's is very good. Goes great with a beer after work!

Hey Tony...I can assure you I don't have any affiliation with any restaurant in Palatine. Considering this "poll" is as unscientific as it can get, I guess my comment really doesn't matter does it? Cheers.

No question.... Bauer's Brauhaus!!! How can you beat the amazing combo of Merkts cheddar and bacon jam?!

In the words of Samuel L. Jackson... "This IS a tasty burger!!"

For value, can't beat Donkey Inn on Wednesday nights. Make sure you get it with the tater tots! Agree with many comments that Brandts, heretofore the best in Palatine hands down, is living off their reputation. The burger isn't as good as it used to be and it is way overpriced.
