Tolls For Suburban Drivers Could Rise

The Daily Herald is reporting that suburban drivers could face higher tolls if a $1 billion budget gap is not filled.

Tolls could be on the rise if the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority is unable to fully fund a $6 billion capital plan, the Daily Herald reported.

The toll authority is predicting that it has about $5 billion in revenue and about $6 billion in maintenance needs and new construction plans, the Daily Herald Reported.

The story notes that tollway directors have not voted on a capital plan or specifically discussed raising rates.

Can't remember when I last drove on a toll road. I thought they were already too much. But, since I don't use them, I'm all for raising the tolls!

Stop mowing along the sides of the roads, it's unneeded in most cases and would probably save quite a bit.

I'm with you on that but I think (not sure) they do it to keep the grasses and weeds down so that critters don'l live in the tall grasses and run out in front of cars. Though I could be totally wrong about this.
