Where / When: Salt Creek Sports Center, 647 S. Consumers Ave.; 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., Friday, September 16.
Why Go?: Browse and shop for unique, hand-made items at this craft fair sponsored by the Salt Creek Park District.
Pricing: Free admission.
Where / When: Firemen's Memorial Parking Lot, Brockway and Slade Streets in downtown Palatine; 4 - 12 p.m., Friday, September 16; 12 p.m. - 12 a.m., Saturday, September 17 and 12 - 6 p.m., Sunday, September 18.
Why Go?: German food and drinks. Keg rolling ceremony, authentic German music and family activities. Proceeds will benefit local charities.

3. Buehler Y Special Community Family Night
Where / When: Buehler Y; 6:30 - 8 p.m.; Friday, September 16.
Why Go?: The Y is open to everyone in the community. Parents and children can play games and make crafts together. All ages are welcome. Parents and/or guardians must stay with their children during family night. Pre-registration is required to ensure adequate supplies and staff.
Pricing: Free.
Where / When: Cutting Hall; 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday, September 16 and 17; 3 p.m., Sunday, September 18.
Why Go?: Musical satire presented by Tesser Act Theatre Ensemble.
Pricing: $12 for seniors, students and children in advance; $14 for adults in advance; $14 for seniors, students and children at the door; $16 for adults at the door.
Where / When: Palatine Metra Train Station, 542 Colfax St., Palatine; 7 a.m. - 1 p.m.; Saturday, September 17.
Why Go?: Visit the 27 vendors who will be selling their farm-fresh fruits and vegetables, organic meats and eggs, cheeses, spices, olives, pickles and much more.

6. Wedding Banned with A Thousand Julys
Where / When: Durty Nellie's Pub; doors open at 9:15 p.m., show begins at 10 p.m., Friday, September 16.
Why Go?: Hear the band Wedding Banned perform all your favorite hits from the '80s and '90s during a musical experience like no other. The band will select two audience members to be the bride and groom and the show will become the wedding reception. This is no traditional rock show. Must be 21 or older to attend.
Pricing: $7 per person.
