Palatine Police Step Up Patrols for St. Patrick's Day Holiday
From March 14 through March 17, Palatine Police will conduct a holiday enforcement campaign, including saturation patrols and roadside safety checks.
Palatine Police will be enforcing the “Click it or Ticket” campaign, as well as the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign for the St. Patrick's Day holiday period.
From the Palatine Police Department:
The Palatine Police Department is dedicated to keeping our roadways safe through aggressive traffic enforcement measures. With the assistance of grant funding provided by the Illinois Department of Transportation, we will be participating in the St. Patrick’s Day Holiday Traffic Safety Crackdown. From March 14 through March 17, 2013, the Palatine Police Department will be saturating the roadways with extra officers focusing on enforcement of impaired driving and occupant protection laws. These are found to be the greatest contributing factors in serious injury and fatal motor vehicle crashes.
In addition, the Palatine Police Department will be conducting a Roadside Safety Check from the late evening hours on Friday, March 15th through the early morning hours of Saturday March 16th in the area of Algonquin and Roselle Roads. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the midnight to 3:00 am timeframe is the deadliest time on Illinois roads. This timeframe also has the lowest occupant restraint use involving motor vehicle fatalities.
Should you be a witness to erratic or impaired driving, please call 9-1-1.
