Palatine Police Step Up Patrols for Thanksgiving Holiday Week
"Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" and "Click it or Ticket" campaigns will be implemented now through November 25. Saturation patrols will be out on the roads to look for impaired drivers, speeders and those not adhering to safety restraint laws.
The Palatine Police Department is partnering with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) to increase safety on the streets through the Thanksgiving holiday period.
Now through November 25, residents should expect to see more uniformed officers on the streets to keep the roadways as safe as possible.
Statistics police point to show that between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m., the most serious traffic accidents, which involve driving under the influence, speeding and failure to buckle up, are documented historically.
The increased patrols are funded by grants from IDOT.
In addition to an increased presence, Safety Belt Enforcement Zones throughout the village will also be held.
Palatine police ask anyone who witnesses unsafe or erratic driving to immediately report it by calling 9-1-1 to make the Thankgiving holiday as safe as it can be.

They wouldn't have to rely on grants if they'd ticket the overnight parkers!!!!!!! One guy parks every single night on the street, I've called on the car, but it's still there EVERY SINGLE NIGHT AND HE GETS NO TICKET EVER. Must be some cop buddy. I find it grossly unfair. I accidentally parked over night on the street ONE TIME, ONE TIME, and I get a ticket. Stop the corruption and ticket these violators for crying out loud.

It's all about common sense. If you are under the influence of drugs or alcohol. You will get arrested. You are at risk of causing injury to yourself and traffic around you. Or worse. You could get killed and kill other people driving, pedestrians, or whatever have you.
It's the same thing without a seat belt. Because no one wants to be severely injured, dead, or in jail. Regardless of a holiday, vacation, or any time in general. Stay alive. Don't drink and drive. Stay buckled up. And stay safe.
