Palatine Police K9 Assists in Ecstasy Drug Charge Arrest

Lake County Sheriff’s officers arrested Fox Lake man in possession of 342 ecstasy pills on Rte. 12.

A Fox Lake man was arrested on felony drug charges with the assistance of the Palatine Police K9 unit at Deer Park Town Center Nov. 30, according to  Sergeant Sara Balmes, public information officer for the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

Christopher Walker, 36, of the 100 Block of Maude Ave. in Fox Lake, was stopped on traffic violations after driving erratically.

“He wasn’t obeying stop signs in the parking lot,” Balmes said. Detectives followed him as he continued to disobey traffic laws, said Balmes. They stopped him at 7:15 p.m. near Rte. 12 and Quentin Road, for not signaling before turning.

Prior to the Palatine Police K9’s arrival, Walker told detectives he had ecstasy pills inside the vehicle.  A total of 342 ecstasy pills and $273 were confiscated.  Walker stated he delivered the pills for an unknown subject from Chicago, according to the release.

Walker was arrested for Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Delivery of Controlled Substances in addition to traffic offenses.

Walker’s 2005 GMC Sierra is pending forfeiture pursuant to the Illinois Controlled Substances Act.

Walker’s jail bond was set at $100,000.00.  He was released from custody after posting 10 percent of the required bond.  He is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 12.
