Palatine Police Blotter: $45K in Property, Sore Footed Bandit

Criminal Damage to Vehicle
On Jan. 5, sometime between 12:01 am and 12: 15 a.m., a resident living in the 1800 block of N. Green Ln. reported the back and side windowns of a 1998 Ford Ranger truck smashed in. The vehicle was parked in a parking lot near the multi-family dwelling, and the damage is valued at $1500.
Sometime between Dec. 12 and Jan. 2 at 8:30 a.m., a resident reported that five plastic, and one wood fishing 'tip ups', two fillet knives, two golf clubs and a Craftsmen brand socket set were taken from their garage in teh 300 block of S. Cedar St. All of the items, with the exception of the tip ups which were taken from the attic, were taken removed from the general garage area. The value of the property taken is unknown.
Burglary to Motor Vehicle
On Jan. 5 between 5 a.m. and 7:45 p.m. a 2002 Ford Windstar was broken into in the 0-100 block of Dundee Quarter. Taken was a Tom Tom GPS valued at $150, two Samsung Galaxy 7-inch tablets valued at $850 each, a Kenwood in-dash CD player valued at $200 and $300 in cash. No damage was reported to the vehicle. The method of entry is unknown.
Sometime between Dec. 31 at 8 a.m. and Jan. 5 at 6 p.m. Green With Envy Landscaping, 411 W. Colfax St., was broken into and $45,000 in property was stolen. Among the items taken were office supplies valued at $650, tools including Stihl chainsaws, a Craftsmen tool box, an Impact wrench, Kawasaki hedge trimmers, a Stihl concrete saw, a Redmax backback blower and a Carquest battery charger, all valued at more than $46,000. The unknown offender(s) are believed to have pryed open the rear door of the business.
Emiliano G. Corral, 56, of the 1299 block of Inverrary Ln. was charged with local ordinance retail theft on Jan. 3 at 3:02 p.m. after attempting to steal items from Walmart, 1555 N. Rand Rd. Corral was observed removing three pairs of Dr. Scholl's shoe inserts from the package and concealing them on his person and then proceeded to the last point of sale without paying for the items.
