Palatine HS Cupcake Fundraiser: Volunteers and Cupcakes Needed
The fundraiser will be held on March 9, but volunteers for the event and individuals who will donate cupcakes are being sought right now. Money raised will benefit special education clubs and activities at Palatine High School.
A cupcake fundraiser will be held in early March at Palatine High School to benefit special education clubs and activities.
Currently, volunteers to assist at the event are being sought, as well as individuals willing to bake cupcakes and donate them to the cause.
Dawn Shepherd, a special education teacher at Palatine High School said the goal is to get 4,000 cupcakes donated to help to support the many programs that benefit students with disabilities that attend PHS. The programs are not sponsored by the high school or the high school district.
“There are so many wonderful activities we provide for our special education students here, but it is up to us to raise the money to make them happen,” Shepard said.
Those programs include Best Buddies, Special Olympics, Palatine Activity Club (PAC), and outings to go bowling, play volleyball and a field day designed specifically for special education students to enjoy.
The event also will have a little something for everyone.
“It’s like a fun fair, you come in and there will be a big table to buy cupcakes, tables set up with gift baskets where people can purchase raffle tickets, a 50/50 raffle, coffee pop and water, and face painting and crafts for younger children,” Shepherd said.
The PEP squad, which includes cheerleaders, poms and special education students in wheel chairs, also will perform at the event.
The fundraiser will be held on March 9 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the PHS cafeteria, 1111 N. Rohlwing Road.
