Palatine Approves Plans for New Italian Restaurant

Luciano's di lucca Ristorante will be located at 1280-1286 E. Dundee Road.

The Palatine village council approved plans at its June 25 meeting for a new Italian restaurant on Dundee Road.

Luciano's di lucca Ristorante will be located in the Woodcraft Plaza shopping center on Dundee Road, next to Sushi Para and Pita Pita.

The owner, Frank Sbragia, of Long Grove said the 10,000 square foot restaurant will also have carry-out service and will employ about 40 people. Future plans may involve opening an additional catering component to the restaurant, according to village documents.

Sbragia is no stranger to the restaurant business. He’s owned six restaurants in his career, including Salerno’s in Mt. Prospect, Rossini’s in Niles, Sassi in Prospect Heights and Spazio di Lucca in Deerfield.

The floor plan shows 196 seats in the restaurant, which will also feature complimentary valet service.

The hours of operation would be Monday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday 11 a.m. to midnight, Saturday 4 p.m. to midnight; and Sunday 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Sbragia has owned several restaurants throughout his career including Rossini's in Niles, Sassi in Prospect Heights and Salerno's Restaurant and Catering in Mount Prospect. He said he would apply for a liquor license at a future council meeting.

Wonderful to hear that those of us who live in the Dundee-Rand area will be getting a nice italian restaurant. How about trying to find a restaurant to take over the old Daves BBQ? Devolping the area at Rand and Dundee where the old IDOLS was. I am worried about the shopping center where TJ Maxx & Home Goods. With Whole Foods leaving and Office Maxx are gone that leaves a big empty shopping area. It is sad to see so much of our shopping going up to Deer Park.

I loved Rossini's in Niles (when I lived there) and also Sassie's. Very happy to hear Mr. Spargia is opening his restaurant here in Palatine. Good luck to him, and good luck for us.

I love Salerno's in Mt. Prospect. My family frequently goes there. I'm so happy he is opening a restaurant in Palatine. I can't quite figure out where it's going though. I'm not familiar with Sushi Para and Pita Pita. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Congratulation. It's a great news for Palatine. I visited Salerno's restaurant in Mount Prospect few times. Very authentic food, friendly staff and impressive Italian wine list. That is what you should expect there.
