McRunner Doubles Dollar Donation per Facebook Fan

With the help of his father Joe, Palatine marathoner Joseph D'Amico has stepped it up again in his mission to run a marathon fueled only by McDonald's—and contribute to charities while doing it.

Palatine marathoner Joseph D'Amico is putting his money where his mouth is. Now 19 days into a 30-day challenge leading up the March 20 Los Angeles Marathon, and . 

D'Amico upped the ante last week, announcing that for each Facebook fan he acquires on his McRunner page, he'll . This week, his father Joe D'Amico agreed to match McRunner's donation.

With 475 fans, the McRunner Facebook page has boosted his total funds raised to $1,364. He hopes to hit $5,000.

According to his food "McTracker" on his blog, in the course of 252 miles run, McRunner has paid 57 visits to 19 unique McDonald's , with meals broken down as follows:

Angus Burgers: 1
Oatmeal: 13
Hamburgers: 14
Hotcakes: 52
Chocolate Milk: 7
Fruit & Walnut Salads: 8
Cookies: 41.5

But some McDonald's fans might notice there's one item missing: the McRib. There's a reason for that, McRunner writes:

This is a very delicate subject in my house. After reading a story about how the McRib is served 365 days a year in Germany, I wanted to book a ticket. I immediately told Mrs. McRunner about the plan. Let’s just say things came down to, “It’s me or the McRib.” McRib count still zero.
