Let's hope the service becomse a bit more friendly under the new ownership. Every time I've been there I've been treated like I'm burdening someone for asking for a drink or food.

Best of luck to you, I cannot wait to see an updated Brandt's, it needs it, and has for many years... Please work on good service and value, a couple healthier options on the menu would be nice too. Burgers and fries are good, but not all the time..

Keeping the family tradition? Just kidding.... You kicked the family out of the tradition. The tradition is no longer there. You're just stealing the name and calling it your own. And a bit more friendly? Good joke. You'll have the same service you had before.

To serve food at the Building that once housed Brandt's Little Cafe is one thing ,but to replace the heritage that Brandt's added to a community is another. At least get the history straight. Brandt's opened at that location in 1969 after moving from a location at Palatine Rd and Northwest Hwy. Joe and Ronnie Brandt opened that location in 1946. You can make all the claims that you want, but no one can ever claim to be the original!

I was sad to hear that Brandt's had closed their doors earlier this week but elated to see that a lifetime friend and his colleague have purchased the business! Walt - I've known you and your family since the 1st grade at St. Theresa's and wish you and Jimmy nothing but the best with your new endeavor! Even though a business has been in town for over 50 years, that does not guarantee continued success and prosperity. I have been a regular since the70s and have seen the rise of an institution years of mediocracy and what in the last 10 years as a place sadly to say, to avoid. What once had large portions and a family feel all for some reason changed in the mid 80s. On a recent visit I was hoping for a meal from the early days that I remembered but instead I was in a virtually empty building on a Friday night at 7:30pm. We had to stay away from the Steaks as the were at Prime steakhouse prices. I ordered the famous burger that I remembered and for just under $10 bucks it just wasn't the same. It was ok, but it was on a white plate not the baskets from the past and it had some all wilted romaine lettuce hidden under the bun for some reason and with 2 scrawny pickles and about 7 fries on the plate I felt ripped off. The Chick Parm had about a very small amount of pasta and a pile of corn dumped on the side of the pasta. The pitcher of beer cost over $15 bucks. And a hamburger soup? Seriously it contained cooked patty broken up in a vegetable soup. A food critic Im not but I don't know why Brandt's gave up on the food side. The bar was never the catalyst and it was sad to watch the Little Cafe loose their way. Good luck to the new owners. Take that quaint old building and start a new chapter with new cooks,new bartenders and new servers. Use a new vision and tradition!

A suggestion for the future Brandt's - make a Facebook Page and get some new burger creations on the menu. Keep the classic burger on the menu. Get some good specials going - a burger of the month or something to keep people coming back. Burgers and Bloodys on Sunday? Heck yes.

What I love most about Brandts is the atmosphere. Dont take that away... Keep is true to it's reputation!

Part of their sucess will depend on if they bring back the waitresses, each waitress has a huge group of loyal customers that come to Brandts not just for the food, but for the friendships that have developed - to much " change " can be a bad thing for a business - sometimes a fatal mistake. Fix the bathrooms, enlarge the kitchen, but don't go crazy - you bought Brandts to save a Palatine institution - not to create a new place in old building - your going to completly loose the Brandts reputation. Good Luck.
