Gingrich Coming To Palatine
Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich will be in Palatine March 14.
Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich will attend the Palatine Township Republican Organization's March 14 Lincoln Day Dinner.
"Newt is confirmed for the Lincoln Day Dinner," Republican Committeeman Aaron Del Mar said. "I think its great to bring Republican presidential candidates out to our area...I think it's huge."
Tickets for the Lincoln Day fundraiser are $100. The event begins with a reception at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 14 at the The Cotillion, 360 S. Creekside Drive, Palatine. Tickets for the event are available online.
The news of Gingrich's planned trip to Palatine came just one day before Super Tuesday — a day in which primary contests will take place in Georgia, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, Oklahoma, Massachusetts, Idaho, North Dakota, Alaska and Vermont.
Although Super Tuesday could prove decisive for one of the candidates — Gingrich, Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum or Ron Paul — it's also possible that the Republican nomination will remain largely undecided when Illinois goes to the polls March 20.
The Palatine Township Republican Organization did not issue an endorsement in the presidential primary, but it has suggested that Republicans vote for Gingrich.
Also attending the Lincoln Day Dinner will be Congressmen Aaron Schock, Robert Dold, Peter Roskam and Joe Walsh.
Although the primary election is not until March 20, early voting has begun and continues through March 15. The Cook County Clerk's office has a list of early voting locations. In Palatine, early voting is available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Saturday at the Village Hall, 200 E. Wood St.
