1. Family Night at Buehler Y

Where / When: Buehler Y,1400 W. Northwest Hwy., Palatine; 6:30 p.m. - 9 p.m., Friday, May 6.

Why Go?: Bring the whole family to the Y and go for a swim, check out the playmaze, play some basketball and try out the climbing wall.

Pricing: Free for Y members; $20 per family for non-members

 

2. Beauty and the Beast Musical Production

Where / When: Harper College, J Theatre, 1200 W. Algonquin Rd., Palatine; 7:30 p.m., Friday, May 6 and 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., Saturday, May 7.

Why Go?: ArtReach Educational Theatre presents this musical performed by professional actors and children from the Palatine community. Great family entertainment.

3. Free Open Mic Family Variety Show!

Where / When: Dickinson's Little Vaudeville, 11 E. Northwest Hwy., Palatine; 7 - 8 p.m.; Friday, May 6.

Why Go?: Free entertainment in a family-friendly setting. Audience members and performers needed. Singers, dancers, musicians, comedians and actors are invited to entertain us.

4. Love's Gentle Smile

Where / When: Cutting Hall; 7:30 p.m.; Friday, May 6.

Why Go?: The Palatine Park District's Adult Vocal Ensemble, Allegro, proudly presents this spring concert focusing on love songs from all musical genres. They will also perform show tunes, folk songs and classical music.

Pricing: $5 for all ages in advance; $8 at the door

 

5. Big Trucks

Where / When: Family Aquatic Center; 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.; Saturday, May 7.

Why Go?: Bring your children to see a fire truck, police car, dump truck and shool bus up close. Sit in the driver's seat together and have some fun.

6. Palatine Farmers' Market

Where / WhenPalatine Metra Train Station, 542 Colfax St., Palatine;  7 a.m. - 1 p.m.; Saturday, May 7.

Why Go?: The Farmers' Market opens its 19th season on May 7 with twenty-seven vendors selling their farm-fresh fruits and vegetables, organic meats and eggs, cheeses, spices, olives, pickles and much more.

Pricing: Free admission

 

7. Palatine Concert Band

 

Where / When: Cutting Hall; 7:30 p.m., Sunday, May 8.

Why Go?: Enjoy the musical talents of the Palatine Concert Band.

Pricing: $8 for adults; $5 for seniors and students
