Some say the next doomsday is right around the corner, tomorrow to be exact. Friday, December 21, 2012 is when, some say, the world will come to an end.

There has been a lot of talk, and a number of theories as to why the world is supposed to end Friday. December 21 is the day the Mayan long-count calendar ends, but does that really mean the end of it all?

Whether you’re concerned or just curious, Arlington Heights Memorial Library is bringing in an expert to answer all of your questions, just in the nick of time.

From the Adler Planetarium in Chicago, master educator Michelle Nichols will explain the science, and pseudo-science, behind the headlines, including the history of other recent “doomsdays,” an odd object some call "Nibiru," and the Mayan calendar.

The program titled “End of the World,” will be held tonight, Thursday, Dec. 20 from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. in the Hendrickson Room at the Arlington Heights Memorial Library, 500 N. Dunton Avenue.
