Dogs Hop to it in Easter Egg Hunt

Dogs of many breeds descended on the Towne Square Saturday for the Palatine Park District's Hound Egg Hunt.

Palatine's Towne Square literally went to the dogs Saturday.

From shitsu to boxer, Jack Russell Poodle to beagle, dogs of many breeds—along with their owners—braved a chilly morning for the Hound Egg Hunt. About 55 dogs raced after colorful treat filled eggs placed in the wet grass by Palatine Park District workers.

This was the second hunt for Adam Anderson and Jaclyn Stanger, both of Arlington Heights, and their, Puggle, Buddy.

“We taught Buddy how to open the eggs. He did pretty well, too,” Anderson said.

John Swarner of Streamwood brought his black Jack Russell Poodle, Angus, to the event.

“Its Angus, like the steakburger,” Swarner said of his pooch’s name. “My girlfriend told me about this. She’s here and I’m tagging along.”

This year’s event, sponsored by the Palatine Park District, was special for Rick and Megan Lopresto and Deb and Jerry Ebenroth.

Their four Alaksan Klee Kai pups, ranging in age from 1 to 2 ½, are all from the same family.

They gathered at the egg hunt as a first birthday bash for their 1-year-old, Rohn.
