District 211 Board of Education: 3 Open Seats, 5 Candidates

Five candidates will be running for three open seats on the Township High School District 211 Board of Education in the April election. Three are incumbents and two are newcomers.

Three seats will be open on the Township High School District 211 Board of Education for the April 9 consolidated election, and five candidates will be running.

Incumbents Robert J. LeFevre of Palatine, who currently serves as board president, along with Schaumburg resident Anna Klimkowica and board secretary, Edward Yung of Inverness, all plan to run again.

New candidates include Roman Golash of Palatine and Mike Scharringhausen of Schaumburg.

Township High School District 211 has five schools, including Palatine High School and Fremd High School, Hoffman Estates and James B. Conant High Schools, both in Hoffman Estates, and Schaumburg High School in Schaumburg.

District 211 has close to 12,500 students in total attending the five schools, and is the largest high school district in the state of Illinois.

Each board of education seat has a four year term.

D211 is sitting on a HUGE reserve fund. Even with this HUGE reserve fund the current board INCREASES the annual tax levy and takes out NEW bonds for building maintenance projects. All the school board candidates need to discuss the HUGE reserve fund during the campaign season.

The problem is that the local school boards represent only the teacher supported union that elected them. The local school board (D-211) has the keys to the car and they EXCLUDE the citizen/taxpayers that fund these schools. They are worried about exposing the district.

It's time to get involved in these LOCAL school board meetings and let the teacher supported union where the line is. Watch the clip above.
It is these local school boards that have negotiated unaffordable contract salaries that the unaffordable PENSIONS are based on. D-211 (Schaumburg, Hoffman Estates, Palatine) is the flag ship model of abuse in the north west Chicago suburbs.
Hats off to the citizens and our state elected representative for taking a stand and getting involved with the D-211 school board on behalf of the community.
It's up to us all as individuals to change this mess.

Watch the average tax paying citizen and our Elected State Rep. hand it to the D-211 school board. This type of involvement needs to gain momentum if we want the system to change.

Vote for Roman Golash. He is the **only** candidate that will represent the overburdened taxpayer.

Please watch local residents address the (CURRENT) unresponsive D-211 school board. Our local Palatine State Rep was there as well to show his support.

VOTE! ..................vote......... Roman Golash

Roman is not a new candidate. He ran before, mainly on a platform to bring ROTC to 211. The voters rejected him then.

In fact the voters of Palatine so thoroughly rejected him that he finished dead last out of a field of seven.

So we rejected him two years ago. What's he changed to make us elect him now? Why should we suddenly decide that after thoroughly rejecting him two years ago we should change our mind and elect him now?

Vote Roman Golash for D-211 School Board Election April 9th.

Roman Golash is the candidate this District needs. The current D-211 school board is oblivious to financial strain residents face. The Superintendent told me that the enrollment in D-211 is 12,400. D-211's budget is 271 million (Daily Herald). This means that a High School education in Schaumburg costs taxpayers approximately $88,000 per student. How much is enough?

Watch local residents express their concerns to the current disinterested school board. It's time for a change in this school board. Vote for the (1) candidate that has leadership qualities and no affiliation with this school district.

If you want to leave a message for the entire D-211 Board of education please call their open line 847-755-6600 and let them know how you feel.

Vote for Roman Golash if you want our school district to improve. Remember, it's our kids that will have to pay this bill when us old people are gone.

Worth reading this article: http://www.dailyherald.com/article/20130306/news/703069930/

"Of those District 211 retirees, 268 — or 42.5 percent — received pensions of $100,000 or more in 2012."

"More than 7 percent of TRS pensions are $100,000 or more for educators who retired from school districts in suburban Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry and Will counties."

"Less than 1 percent of the retired educators in the state's other 96 counties receive pensions of more than $100,000."

And the candidates' response to the issue: http://www.dailyherald.com/article/20130319/news/703199851/
