Chowdown Showdown: Best Place to Get a Sub in Palatine

Which restaurant in Palatine has the best subs?

It's lunchtime during the work week and you are looking for something quick to fill you up.

You are in the mood for a sub — but where do you turn?

For this week's Chowdown Showdown Challenge, we are asking Palatine Patch readers to tell us: where is your favorite place is to get a sub sandwich in Palatine?

Let us know by commenting below. And don't forget to also tell us which type of sub sandwich you think is the best from that particular sub shop and/or restaurant.

Our first Chowdown Showdown column last week crowned The Lamplighter Inn, 60 N. Bothwell St., as having the best burger with Brandt's-The Little Cafe, 807 W. Northwest Highway, finishing a close second. This past week, Mexico Uno, 15 N. Brockway St., received the most praise with 60 percent of the votes.

We will take nominations for best sub restaurant through the end of this week and have a poll with the top nominees next Monday, March 26. That way people will have a little bit more time to weigh in and a little bit more time to vote in the poll. We will post the winner on Saturday, March 31.

So, without further ado, lets get the voting started. Patch readers, tell us by commenting below: where is the BEST place to get a sub sandwich in Palatine?

This is all about participation so we hope you will chime in and check back.

About this column: Each week, Palatine Patch will be on the hunt for the best place to get certain entrees in the area. The Chowdown Showdown will allow readers to vote on where their favorite place is to get a burger or a latte or a steak in Palatine. Related Topics: Chowdown Showdown, sub sandwiches, and subs

For right now I would say Capri Deli. Although I've yet to try one from Mariano's. It seems like everything I've tried there is awesome! But it will be Capri Deli fornow.
