Boy Scouts Ban on Gays Could End Soon
NBC News reports the organization is considering ending the ban that has been in existence for decades.
The Boy Scouts of America ban on gay scouts and scout leaders could soon be over, according to NBC News.
The news source reports the group is actively considering ending the ban that has been in existence for decades. If the new policy goes through, the ban on gays would be erased from the Boy Scouts of America’s rules, allowing local organizations to decide for themselves if they want to allow gay scouts and leaders, NBC reports.

It should be abolished! As a parent of a son in a Palatine Boy Scout troop, I am VERY comfortable that there are safeguards in place for ANY type of abuse that could occur. I have attended camp-outs and trust the parents involved, no matter what their orientation is.

They don't get public funding because of the fact they are a Catholic organization. They should continue on exercising what they find morally acceptable and should not be scrutinized or pressured by others, it is about religious freedom. Sounds ironic doesn't it? Others have been down this road! Just because you don't agree with them, doesn't make them universally wrong or vilify them.

I do not agree with their opinions but it is a Catholic organization. You would not be able to get married in a Catholic Church as a same sex couple or even someone that has been married and divorced- so why do people find this so unusual? I personally don't agree with the Catholic church on many things and I was raised Catholic. But arent religions free to express their opinions and in fact stop people from being part of their organizations or churches?

Ummm, I'm not sure where you are getting your information, but, the Boy Scouts is NOT a Catholic organization.

The Boy Scouts of America partners with community organizations, such as religious congregations, fraternal groups, service clubs, and other community associations, to provide the Scouting program for the particular neighborhood or community in which the particular organization wishes to outreach to youth and families.
In my experience we prayed together, we went to church together, and it was held in the basement of the church.
All Boy Scouts of America units are owned and operated by chartered organizations. Of the 111,668 units and 3,786,730 Scouts:
68.4% of all units and 62.5% of all Scouts are chartered to faith-based organizations
If you look the top 10 charters of the boy scouts of America are run by Religious groups.

So of course they are going to use the "rules" of the organization they are run by.
