98 Tickets, 5 DUI Arrests: Palatine Police Holiday Enforcement Campaign
The “Click it or Ticket” and “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign partnership between Palatine Police and IDOT netted dozens of tickets and five DUI arrests between November 12-25.
There were 98 tickets issued for various violations and five DUI arrests were made during the Thanksgiving Holiday Enforcement Campaign by Palatine Police.
In partnership with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), police enforced “Click it or Ticket” and “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” between November 12-25. Similar campaigns are held around July 4, Labor Day and Christmas.
A traffic safety grant awarded by IDOT enabled police to increase patrols during that time period to ensure residents driving on Palatine roads were kept safe during holiday celebrations. During major holiday periods, police regularly step up patrols.
Below is the breakdown of tickets and arrests:
| Seatbelt Violations | 76 Tickets |
| Child Safety Restraint Violations | 1 ticket |
| Speeding | 7 tickets |
| No Insurance | 3 tickets |
| DUI | 5 arrests |
| All Other Traffic Violations | 11 tickets |
As part of the campaign, Safety Belt Enfocement Zones were created, which not only checked the use of seat belts for adults, but child-safety restraints as well.
Uniform saturation patrols by Palatine Police also were part of the effort.
