Midtown Athletic Club Names New Tennis, Fitness Directors

Midtown Athletic Club Palatine has announced the promotion of two long time staff members, Anish Manrai and Neil Wywialowski, to the positions of Director of Tennis and Fitness Director, respectively. 

Manrai, 32, of Palatine, previously served as the club's Junior Director, Tournament Director, and Assistant Head Professional for the past eight years.  Wywialowski, 52, of Lake Zurich, has been a staff member for more than 17 years and served the last 12 years as the club's Personal Training Director.

As Director of Tennis, Mr. Manrai will be responsible for executing a comprehensive tennis program that includes USTA Leagues, CITA Leagues, Quickstart junior tennis programs, tournaments, social events, group and private lessons and overseeing a staff of 14 professionals.

Certified by the U.S. Professional Tennis Association (USPTA), Mr. Manrai is currently vice president of USPTA Illinois and a Member of the Wilson Advisory Staff and Adidas Tennis National Advisory Board. 

Manrai earned a Bachelor's degree from Mumbai University in India and obtained his Masters degree from the University of Sydney. He is ranked in the top 10 in the nation in the Men's Open division of the USPTA national circuit and was awarded the 2007 USPTA Illinois Tennis Professional of the Year, 2009 USPTA Midwest Division Men's Open Player of the Year and 2010 USPTA Education Award.

As Fitness Director, Mr. Wywialowski will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of all areas of the Fitness Department including Group Exercise, Personal Training, Pilates, Fitness Testing, as well as the maintenance and testing of equipment. He will also supervise the hiring and training of new and current staff members that is consistent with the philosophies and policies of Midtown Athletic Club.

Neil is a licensed athletic trainer and certified personal trainer through the American Council on Exercise and the National Academy of Sports Medicine. He is a graduate of Eastern Illinois University with a B.S. in Health Education and a minor in Physical Education.

Prior to working at Midtown, he worked in a physical therapy clinic, taught high school health education and worked as an athletic trainer in the high school setting.
